William Henry “Bill” Dixon was born July 4, 1950 in Henderson, Kentucky to Emma Louise Tyler-Dixon and William C. Dixon. The Lord called him home to rest on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 11:43 pm at Deaconess Midtown, Evansville, Indiana.
Bill, as he was called, professed in Christ at an early age at Greater Norris Chapel Baptist Church and later joined First Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member of the men’s choir.
Bill graduated from Henderson City High School where he was an avid basketball player, even making the newspaper who called him “Wee Willie” because of his short stature. He was also known as “Dollar Bill” to a select few. After high school, Bill joined the United States Airforce. After returning to Henderson, he worked at Alcan Aluminum and PB&S Chemical (Brenntag) where he retired as a truck driver. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards, watching all sports, and he ESPECIALLY loved fishing with close family and friends. He also loved his dog Gucci, who preceded him in death.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Emma Louis Tyler - Dixon and William C. Dixon and his grandson: Jamar I. Black.
He lives to cherish his memory, his wife: Vernelia L. Dixon of Norcross, GA; a daughter: Jacqueline L. Gadson of Norcross, GA; a son: Aubrey Cook of St. Louis, MO; one sister: Deborah Bowman of Henderson, KY; two grandchildren: Jasmon I. Dixon and Jamese N. Black, both of Norcross, GA; a special friend: Derrick Brooks of Raeford, NC and significant other: Sharron Brooks of Henderson, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will truly miss you.
