Warren Gregory "Scoonie" Hawkins Sr.

August 31, 1950 — July 22, 2023

Warren Gregory Hawkins, Sr., “Scoonie”, went to Glory peacefully, on July 22, 2023, at Heart to Heart Hospice. Scoonie was born to the union of Victoria Hawkins Irvine and Paul Warren Bass, Jr. on August 31, 1950. He graduated from Central High School and was
employed at Whirlpool Corporation and Earle C. Clements Job Corp for a number of years. He enjoyed reading all the Marvel Comic Books, playing Hand Ball, Ping Pong, and Pool. Scoonie especially liked attending the Ellis Park Racetrack when it was in season. He went to the track for more than 50 years because he loved betting on the horses. He also liked fishing from time to time. Scoonie always enjoyed talking “smack” and hanging with the fellows.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Victoria Hawkins Irvine; sisters: Vickie Irvine, Janice Bell, Shirley Hawkins; brothers: Ivan Irvine and Robert Hawkins.

Scoonie leaves to cherish fond memories; sons: Warren Gregory Hawkins, Jr. (Greg), DeMarco Hawkins (Marco), Robert (Lakeisha) Hawkins “Bear”, Tony Hawkins, Jamal (Radesha) Swope; bonus daughter & son: Shema Campbell Colbert and Kenneth “Pint” Baker; 26 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; father: Paul Warren Bass, Jr., brother: Samuel Irvine, sisters: Francille Irvine, Doris Jean Irvine; aunt: Francille Baker, the Matriarch of the family; a host of cousins, and friends.

You are gone but not forgotten, Pops, Dad, PaPaw, and various other names Scoonie was known by. Get your crown, rest, and walk around Heaven all day! RIH
