Virginia Tolbert

Virginia Tolbert, 80, transitioned from Earth to Eternity on June 1, 2026, at Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital. She was born in Madisonville, KY, to the late Mike Tolbert and Jennie Holland. She was a graduate of Rosenwald High School and was a member of Flower Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Virginia worked at General Electric, where she retired after 30 years of service. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family. She was a fantastic cook and was well- known for her Strawberry Delight and her delicious Caramel Cake. Everyone loved to eat her cooking! In her spare time, Virginia enjoyed watching TV and had become a huge fan of the Asian Soap Operas. She loved to dance and was also an avid reader.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her siblings, Shelby Corbin, Tommie Jean Reynolds, Bobbie Mae Davis, James Gipson, Eulis Gipson, James Civils, and her longtime partner, Willie Hurst.

Virginia leaves to cherish fond and loving memories, her children, Jennie Logan, Kimberly Laffoon (John), Terri Hurst, Charo Hurst, Willie Hurst (Jessica), and son in love, Pastor Billy Stafford; grandchildren, Cameron Hurst, Cayce Hurst, Alyssa Harady, Jacinda Laffoon, Charles Smalls, Shelby Smalls, Maurice Thompson, Da’kota Hurst, Madison Caldwell, Isaella Hurst, Miranda Caldwell, Hannah Hurst, Jace Hurst; 5 great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside service is 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2026, at Eastside Odd Fellows Cemetery with visitation at Mason & Sons Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
