Vickie F. Rose, age 72, of Morganfield, KY departed this life on March 21, 2024. Vickie was born April 14, 1952 on Easter to Iona Hufsey. Vickie was born in a small village in Joppa, IL. She spent her summers with her grandmother whom was half Shoshone Indian and German descent. When her mother married Hank, they moved Vickie and her brother Hank “Boo Boo” to Camp Breckinridge in Morganfield, KY.
Vickie earned her CNA certification at UCHS and joined a bigger workforce. She worked for Hughsandford with mentally and physically disabled young adults and transported them on the Grits bus. Later she provided care to many of the elderly in her home community. Vickie was a hard worker and always kept two jobs. The second, part-time job she held was at Loretta Nursing Home in Shawneetown, IL and later Chuckles Oil, “The gas station” – a place where everyone knows your name and a way to stay connected with the community. Her last employment was at Columbia Healthcare working on the dementia unit “Cottages”. She later retired and helped raise her grandchildren.
Vickie lived her adult life in Morganfield with ex-husband, Robert Rose. Vickie raised two children, Kelly Sue Hughes and Kandi Lee Rose. Vickie has helped raise so many others. She was a mother, grandma, and friend to many. Vickie was willing to listen to your problems and give advice. She did so much for so many, such as feeding you. She also housed a host of young people. She always gave wisdom and home-cooked meals to anyone. Her motto was, “If you leave hungry, it’s your own fault”. Her grandchildren were the most important things to her. She said, “I’ve waited my whole life for you, Autumn Morgan and Malcolm John Mcguire”.
Vickie Rose was liked and loved by so many for her kindness, realness, and rawness. Some would even say, “She’s Gangster”. She was so many things to so many different people. We will miss you, Vickie F. Rose. God gave us Vickie Rose on Easter and he has taken her home for Easter to be with her family.
