Listen to Obituary

Sharlyn Arlene Armstead, 64, transitioned to be with the Lord on Friday, September 12, 2025. She was born to the late Adra and Iola Armstead on May 26, 1961, in Evansville, Indiana.

Affectionately known as “TT,” she accepted Christ at an early age at Progressive Holy Temple under the leadership of Pastor William Simmons. Her love for the Lord and His church was evident, as she faithfully served until her health began to decline. Even then, she continued to fellowship with the saints at Friendship Baptist and Greater Hope Church.

TT’s love was truly contagious—she opened her heart and her home to everyone she met. She had a gift for cooking and delighted in preparing meals to share with family, friends, and even strangers. She will always be remembered as the one who would never let anyone leave hungry.

She cherished her beloved dog, “CoCo,” who was more than a pet—she was her spoiled and treasured companion, returning every bit of the love she gave her. Above all, TT was a devoted and nurturing mother who remained present and actively involved in the lives of her children. While she loved her children deeply, her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, bringing her immeasurable joy

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David “Cricket” Thomas, and her siblings Glen, Betty, Kimball, and Karen Armstead.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Jason “Bus” Thomas and Ashlyne Johnson; siblings, Larry (Chiquita) Armstead, Jane Ellis, Glamor Taylor, Shannon (Robert) McNary, Adra Armstead, Tamberly (Dimitri) Hassell, Courtney Armstead, Dewayne (Monique) Armstead, Gregory Armstead, Darren Armstead, Derrick Armstead, and Shelika Armstead; grandchildren, Jashyona Thomas, Marshawn Sherman, Akya Thomas, Helena Thomas, and Har’veion “Barney” Lucas; great-grandchildren, Adore Sherman and Amira White; daughter in law, Lashawna Pullom and a host of countless cousins and other friends.
