Ronald Eugene Phipps, affectionately known as Ronnie, of Evansville, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 20, 1953, Ronnie was a cherished family and community member.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Eva Ann Phipps, his father, Eugene Phipps, and his two brothers, Matthew and Will. Ronnie leaves behind a legacy of love and memories shared with his siblings: three sisters, Susan Wesley of Owensboro, Ruth McCray of Minneapolis, and Dora (John) LeBlanc of New York; and four brothers, David of Plano, TX, Timothy (Elizabeth) of Garland, TX, Michael of Evansville, and Mark (Kim) of Indianapolis, along with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Ronnie accepted Christ at an early age while attending Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church and later became a devoted member of Nazarene Baptist Church. He graduated from Central High School in 1973 and worked for the City of Evansville at Helfrich Golf Course during the late 1970s and 1980s.
A lover of films, Ronnie enjoyed watching scary movies, action-packed adventures, and classic Westerns such as Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and The Big Valley. He was a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and proudly wore his favorite Steeler cap. Known for his practical skills, Ronnie was adept at fixing things and often served as the navigator during the family's memorable road trips from New York to California.
In his later years, Ronnie devoted himself to caring for his mother until her passing in January 2025. His dependability and sense of responsibility were hallmarks of his character, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Ronnie's kindness and spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
