Rodney "Gig" Lovelle Donahue, Jr.

Rodney Lovelle Donahue Jr. , age 59, of Providence, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday, July 19, 2026, in Evansville, Indiana. He was surrounded by the profound love of his mother, children, and grandchildren.

Born on Christmas morning, December 25, 1966, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Rodney was the oldest son of Linda S. Gregory and the late Rodney Donahue Sr. From the very start, he was a gift—a holiday baby who brought joy and laughter wherever he went.

Known to everyone as "Gig"—a nickname born from his smooth charm and magnetic personality—Rodney was the undisputed life of every party. He was charismatic, endlessly entertaining, and had a dance move for every song that ever played. If there was music, he was moving; if there was a crowd, he was the center of it. He truly loved life, and his happiness was so electric that you couldn't help but smile when he walked into the room.

Above all, Rodney was a devoted and proud father. He adored his daughters—Mercedes (35), Cinnamon (32), and Amira (22) and poured his heart into raising his youngest, his 3-year-old son Gabriel, whom he cherished beyond measure. Nothing made him beam brighter than his children; they were the absolute light of his world.

When illness took hold, Rodney was lifted by the unwavering love and devotion of his mother, Linda, and his sister, Erica. He was also surrounded and cared for by his brothers Jesse, George, and Carlos; his uncle Darryl; his beloved children; and the compassionate staff and care team at Linda E. White Hospice. Together, they tended to him with relentless tenderness, ensuring he was never alone and was held in comfort until his very last breath.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rodney Donahue Sr. ; his paternal grandparents, Louis Crowe-Donahue and Oscar Donahue ; his maternal grandparents, J.B. Scott and Marcia Dean Hall ; and his step-grandfather, Charles Hall.

Rodney leaves to cherish and honor his memory: his four beloved children, Mercedes (Brandon) Harrison, Cinnamon Donahue, Amira Donahue, and Gabriel Donahue; his devoted mother, Linda S. Gregory; his sisters, Erica Donahue and Anitra Donahue; his brothers, Jesse Donahue, George Donahue, and Carlos Donahue; his cherished grandchildren, Noa Harrison, Braelyn Harrison, Trevon Skipper Jr. , and Kai Fleming; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

The weight of this loss is felt far beyond his immediate family—it has rippled through his entire extended family, his wide circle of friends, and the Providence community he called home. Rodney had a gift for making everyone feel seen and loved, and that love is being returned tenfold in the memories being shared.
