Morrie Murry was born on October 23, 1946, in Cleveland, Mississippi, to the late Eddie A. Murry, Sr., and Mary Weatherspoon Murry. He peacefully departed this life at 11:44 PM on May 14, 2025, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.
Deacon Murry professed his hope in Christ at an early age in Cleveland, MS. After relocating to Hopkinsville, Kentucky, he became a devoted Al Nations House of Prayer member and later joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Earlington, KY. Throughout his years at Mt. Zion, he embraced various roles including serving on the usher board, participating in the brotherhood and male chorus, fulfilling duties as a member of the deacon board, and serving as the Sunday School Superintendent. His love for his church family was evident, and in return, he was cherished by all.
Morrie leaves behind a loving legacy, including his wife of four and a half years, Dorris J. Murry of Earlington, Kentucky; his daughter, Lileta Grayson of Hopkinsville; and three sisters-in-law, Dorraine (William) Slaton and Delores Johnson of Earlington, and Dorothy Mulkey of Santa Ana, California. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members who will miss him dearly.
Morrie's warmth and kindness made him a friend to everyone he met. He will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
