Michael Hillery Farmer

Michael Hillery Farmer Sr., age 68, was born to the late Hillery M. and Patricia Carole Farmer on January 29, 1957, in Evansville, Indiana, and passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was a devoted husband, son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, cousin, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy defined by his strength and dedication to family.

He graduated from William Henry Harrison High School in 1975 and began his career working on the docks on the Ohio River. On May 1, 1978, he joined General Electric, where he dedicated over 39 years of service before retiring as a supervisor with Sabic Innovative Plastics on February 1, 2017. Throughout his career, he received numerous accolades and was regarded for his exceptional leadership, teamwork, and commitment to his colleagues.

Michael had a passion for spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed watching sports and taking pride in his cars. He also served as the DJ at American Legion Otis Stone Post #354 for over 30 years and was a well-known figure in the tri-state area, particularly for weddings, birthday parties, and various social events. He was affectionately known as his ” Yo Moma’s” Favorite DJ.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael “NEWK” Farmer, Jr.; his parents, Hillery M. and Patricia Carole Farmer; granddaughter Morgan Hillery Michael Farmer; grandparents James and Emma Farmer, and Pauline and Donald Ridley; and sister Paula Farmer-Minor.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Donese Farmer; daughters Shawna, Micha, Maurita, Michelle Farmer, Dishika, and Dameka Weathers; grandchildren Zaire, Kaelan, and Zaven, Madison, Mikiyah, Ki-Yeal, Rodney, and Ja'Mya; great-grandchildren Ja’Nyree, Ja’Michael, Me’Khyi, and Ka’Tori; sisters Veronica Farmer and Carla Marie Taylor; brothers Hillery Marchel (Deborah) and Jeffrey Farmer; and mother-in-law Glenda Wilbourn and a host of loving family and friends.
