Mary Louise Tramill made her transition to her new heavenly home on May 11, 2026. She was born on March 23, 1952, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, to the union of Robert and Sarah Tramill.
In 1965, the family moved from Clarksville, Tennessee, to Evansville, Indiana. Mary graduated from Bosse High School and continued her education at Lockyear Business School. After working for several companies in Evansville, she enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served one year in Japan.
After her military service, Mary made her home in San Francisco, California, where she worked for the city as a procurement officer. She was a member of Olivet Baptist Church in San Francisco under the leadership of Rev. Steven Bailey. Mary loved the Lord and had a deep love for gospel music. She was blessed to be born into a family of musicians and enjoyed many genres of music.
Mary, affectionately known as “Mud,” loved her nickname and enjoyed being called by it. As a young girl, she loved playing in the mud after it rained and making mud pies, which is how she received the name. She also loved traveling, especially her trips home to Evansville and the family drives to New Orleans for the annual Jazz Festival.
Mary was full of life, conversation, laughter, and love. When she came home for family reunions and special events, everyone knew she would have plenty to say, and her family cherished every moment spent with their beloved older sister. She was also an excellent cook, often preparing dishes for potlucks and gatherings that were enjoyed so much that guests would take the entire dish before others had a chance to taste it. These memories, along with so many others, will be treasured forever.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Maxine; and her brothers, Charles, Robert Joe, James, Carl, and Wilbur.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her sisters, Janie, Virginia, and Rachel Tramill; her brothers, Mike Emerson and Emmitt Tramill, all of Evansville, Indiana, and Earnest Tramill of Gig Harbor, Washington; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends; and a special friend, Mrs. Josephine Lee of San Francisco, California.
Mary will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered
