LaMona “Mona” Dean Sloan-Johnson, 61, passed away on April 23, 2026, at her beloved home. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Richard Leo Sloan and Gloria Dean Woods.
Mona graduated from North High School in Evansville, Indiana. She dedicated many years of service to the Executive Inn and later worked at McDonald’s for over a decade, where she served as a manager. During her time there, she became well known in the community and formed many lasting connections.
Mona found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved doing crossword puzzles, keeping up with her nails and hair, and listening to music—often dancing along to her favorite songs. She enjoyed watching football and was a fan of the Golden State Warriors and the Kansas City Chiefs. One of her favorite times of year was Christmas, when she was delighted in decorating her home and displaying family photos.
Family meant everything to Mona. She cherished spending time with her nieces and nephews and held a special place in her heart for her beloved dogs, Khloe and Luna.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Vaughn Johnson; her sister, Tina Sloan; her nieces and nephews, including Dawntine, Donald, and Lorenzo; her great-nieces, Cynyia and Samara; her great-nephew, Octaviaus; her stepdaughter, Keenya Lee; her great-grandson, Mikel Green; and her cherished grandbaby, affectionately known as Baby Muffin, along with a host of other beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
