Juanita Turner

Juanita Turner was born November 21st, 1932 to Rev. Clarence and Bertha Gilbert in Cairo, KY. On February 27th, 2024, God decided that He needed Juanita more and called her home. 

At a young age, Juanita gave her life to Christ and attended Walnut Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a long-term member before joining Norris Chapel Baptist Church. Juanita served in the church for over 70 years. For many years, Juanita served faithfully as the secretary for Circle 4. Congregating with her fellow missionaries was something she looked forward to each month. She loved her faith and loved serving the Lord. 

Juanita was no stranger to work. Besides working in the church for many years, Juanita was a TupperWare salesperson for many years, where she was able to travel the country. She also worked at D&M Family Store for years in the deli department. Everyone that came into the store or worked in the store loved her firm personality, wisdom, and her chess pies. Juanita did not mince her words for anyone and that’s what we loved most about her. 

Juanita is preceded in death by her husband, Horace Walker Sr., as well as her parents, Rev. Clarence and Bertha Gilbert. Juanita will be joining heaven with her son, Howard Walker; brothers, Clarence A. Gilbert, William Gilbert, Thurman Gilbert, George Gilbert, and L.B. Gilbert; sisters, Roberta Hairlson, Marie Floyd, and Bertha Jackson. 

Juanita leaves to cherish her memory her beautiful children, sons, Jerome (Denise) Walker, Horace Walker, Mark (Jovade) Walker, and Louis (Tracey) Walker; daughters, Pamela (Derek) Burris, Cynthia (James) Morgan, and Lori Sanners; an abundance of grandchildren and great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
