Joyce Marie Hamilton peacefully departed this life on May 29, 2025, at Brickyard
Nursing Facility. She was born on December 5, 1946, to Lula Mary Pike-Duncan and Freeland
Duncan.
Joyce graduated from J.W. Million High School and went on to pursue a degree in
business. She dedicated much of her career to the retail industry and also found
deep purpose in working with special needs high school students.
Joyce married the love of her life, Howard Hamilton, and together they raised
four children. Known for her generosity and nurturing spirit, Joyce opened her
heart and home to many others throughout her life.
She was a gifted cook, with her lasagna being a family favorite. A devoted
church member, she served faithfully as an usher and was always willing to
contribute her famous turkey & dressing and potato salad to church gatherings.
Joyce found joy in life's simple pleasures - especially watching classic
westerns like Gunsmoke and Bonanza.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lula and Freeland Duncan; her husband,
Howard Hamilton; and her son, Howard Jr.
Joyce leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Stephanie; sons, William, John
(Kim), and Steven; grandchildren, Zakeia, Casey, Shaylee Smith, and Jaylen
Kimber; and great-granddaughter, D'auri Walker. She is also survived by her
brother-in-law, William Hamilton (Tawanna), and cousin, William Howard, along
with a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. Her legacy of love, kindness, and hospitality will live on in all who knew her.
