John Thomas Frazier Sr. passed away on March 25, 2026, at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, Kentucky.

He was born on September 2, 1939, to Sadie Scisney and Samuel Frazier Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents; his bonus father, George Rutledge Jr.; his brothers, Sam Frazier, Delmer McNary, Elmer McNary, and George Rutledge III; and his sisters, Minnie Mayes and Ruby Fairrow. John was a proud graduate of Rosenwald High School. Shortly after, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he faithfully served from May 1958 to September 1963. During his military service, he earned several honors, including the Sharpshooter Award, Marksman (Rifle) Award, and the Parachutist Badge.

Following his service, John built a hardworking life as a coal miner and later as a bus driver. In his free time, he found joy in playing cards, watching horse races, solving crossword puzzles, and listening to Blues music. He was also a devoted sports fan who loved watching basketball, football, and classic westerns. He was especially known as an avid Louisville Cardinals fan.

John leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Kurk (Cynthia) Frazier, Craig (Angelica) Frazier, Floyd (Anya) Crawford, John T. Frazier Jr., Tyra (Idris) White, and Dominique Lovan. He is also survived by Tracey Hightower and Cynthia Rice; his sister-in-law, Paulette Rutledge; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his devoted caregiver, Dory Stone, for the love and support shown to their father.

John will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
