James L. Civils, formerly known as “FIRECRACKER”, was the son of Levora Wilkes and James Civils, Sr. He was born on April 9, 1948, in Christian County, KY. James departed this life on April 26, 2025, at his residence. He was the eldest of 11 children.
James joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at an early age. He loved working on cars, listening to his music, and watching his westerns. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Anthony Civils, William Civils, and Alex Drake.
James leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters: Christina (Lamont) Combs and Whitney Civils, both of Madisonville, KY; sons, James (JaKisha) Civils, James A. Civils, Corey Civils, Michael Civils, Jason Sutton, and Tony Ray, all of Madisonville, KY; sisters, Diane Civils, Jeannie (Robert) Boyd, Dorothy Tandy, Jennifer Doniel, and Virginia Hurst; brothers, Edward (Donnell) Drake, Kenneth Drake, Bradley Drake, and Emanuel Sergent.
James also leaves to cherish his memory a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
