Hewlett “HP” Posey was born on July 10, 1952, to the late Helen Posey. He was raised in Corydon, Kentucky by his grandparents, Robert and Bessie Mae Posey.
Hewlett accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church. In 1970, he graduated from Henderson County High School where he earned a scholarship to Murray State University. Upon earning his bachelor’s degree, Hewlett taught at Cario Elementary School for several years. In 1983 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy from which he was honorably discharged after 20 years of service. While in the Navy, Hewlett earned the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Navy Good Conduct Medal, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal.
After leaving the Navy, Hewlett worked on the Naval Base until he retired in 2020. Hewlett was an avid car guy, which led him to open his own detailing business which was in operation until his passing.
In addition to his mother, Hewlett was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Bessie Mae Posey; his aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Hewlett leaves to cherish his memory, his only daughter, Diamond Posey, whom he loved and adored. He was immensely proud of her. Special acknowledgement to Marion Posey, Shirley Posey, and Betty Harrigan. He also leaves his aunt, Sarah Posey along with cousins and friends from Kentucky and Maryland.
