Tribute to the Life of Harvey Chandler from Marybelle
Harvey Wayne Chandler was born to James and Rosella Chandler in Dixon, KY., on March 21, 1937. Harvey graduated from Rosenwald High School in Providence, KY. He loved to brag that he was the youngest in his class. Following graduation, he joined the US Army. Later, he decided to go back into the Army Reserve, where he served until his retirement in 1998. Harvey also retired from Big Rivers Power Plant in 1998.
Harvey was preceded in death by both parents, his sister, Lois Thompkins, and his son, Timothy Thomas. Harvey was a real jokester. To know him was to love him. I was always told, “It is not the beginning or the end, but what is in between”. Harvey lived an enjoyable life until COPD took control. He loved to travel, attend Cardinal baseball games, watch Old Western Movies, and Cop shows on TV. Timothy, Myra, Andre’, Bella, and Ady were the love of his life. I thank the Lord for 61 years with Harvey and would not trade them for anything. Harvey departed this life on Sunday, September 14, 2025.
Harvey is survived by his wife Marybelle; daughter, Myra Whitt, his “SUNSHINE“ (Ed); grandson, Andre’ Thomas (Jessica); great granddaughter, Bella; great grandson, Adyson; cousins, Johnetta Mitchell and Anita Graves; a host of other family members, friends from the Army Reserve and Big Rivers Electric. Harvey was a member of St. Mark /Grace & Peace Lutheran Church for many years.
My final words to Harvey were,“I love you and don’t you ever forget that”! Harvey’s passing has caused a huge void in our lives. We know God will see us through.
To all of my family and friends, thanks for your love and support in these very dark days. “Weeping may come in the night, but joy comes in the morning”.
