It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Fay Jean McNary, age 81, beloved mother and grandmother, on June 27, 2026, at her home in Evansville, Indiana.
Fay was born on September 14, 1944, in Sturgis, Kentucky, to Clarence Brown and Altha Lillian Frazier. She was raised with love and care by Altha Lillian and Harold Handy. She graduated from high school in Sturgis, and after working several jobs throughout her career in Kentucky and Evansville, she became a childcare assistant for the Evansville-Vanderburgh School System. Fay was a faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church where she attended service regularly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Carolyn F (McNary) Johnson (Cookie), sister, Lillian A; brothers, Harold W, Clifford D, and James M Handy.
Fay is survived by one son, Donald McNary of Princeton, Indiana; two brothers, Bruce and Steven Handy, both of St. Louis, Missouri.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, TaShira Johnson of Evansville, Indiana, Corey McNary of Atlanta, Georgia, Desmond Johnson of Evansville, Indiana, Kiana Roberts of Peoria, Illinois; and a dearly loved great-grandchild, Xavier Baines of Evansville, Indiana, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Fay lived a life marked with strength, faith, and a deep devotion to her family. She was known to always be there for other family members who needed someone to care for them. She will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
May her spirit remain with you in your life.
May you live to remember her.
Proverbs 31:31
