Eric was born on April 4, 1963, to the late Alma Smith and Robert Crayton in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He later made Evansville, Indiana his home, where he lived for more than 30 years and became a familiar and beloved presence in the community.
Eric was a proud high school graduate who continued his education by attending college for two years. Throughout his life he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for those he loved. He worked for several well-known employers, including Berry Plastics, Bob Evans, and Denny’s, where he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of coworkers and customers alike.
More than anything, Eric will be remembered for the person he was. He was a loving father, devoted grandfather, faithful partner, and loyal friend. He had a gift for making people laugh and never met a stranger. Whether sharing a joke, lending a helping hand, or preparing a home cooked meal, Eric had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and valued. Cooking was one of his greatest passions, and many were blessed to enjoy meals prepared with his love and generosity.
Eric’s kindness extended beyond his family. He was known throughout the neighborhood for feeding others and caring for those in need, never hesitating to share what he had. His compassion, warm heart, and selfless spirit left a lasting impact on countless lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma Smith and Robert Crayton.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Sandy Brimm; his beloved son, Lorenzo Crayton; three cherished grandchildren, Shia, Kloyee, and La’Rio; three sisters; one brother; and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, and dear friends who will forever treasure the love, laughter, and memories he shared.
