Ms. Dora W. Bowman Edmonds was born on December 13, 1947, to the late Nannie Pickle Bowman and James “Duck” Bowman. She peacefully departed this life on August 29, 2025.
Dora professed her hope in Christ at an early age and became a dedicated member of Seventh Street Baptist Church, where she served with grace on the Usher Board under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Anthony M. Brooks.
A woman of remarkable determination and unwavering faith, Dora approached each day with resilience and trust in God. Her enduring legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire her family for generations to come. Known for her honesty, she had a unique ability to express her thoughts candidly while also demonstrating genuine concern for others. Those who had the pleasure of knowing her cherished her warmth, humor, and infectious spirit.
Dora was preceded in death by her beloved parents and siblings: sisters Sally Yates, Laureen Edwards, Virginia Ryder, and Mary Ryder-Taylor, as well as brothers Carlos Bowman, twin brother David Bowman, Markman, Shirey Bowman, and William George Ryder.
She leaves behind a loving family that includes her daughters, Donelle Jackson of Owensboro, KY, Yvonne Moore of Evansville, IN, and Joyce Edmonds of Henderson, KY. She is also survived by five cherished grandchildren: only granddaughter and favorite Shanece Prear, Antonio Keley, Kameron Frye, Carlos Rodrigues, and JaBryant Vincent “AKA” Poodie, along with many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Dora’s life was a testament to love, faith, and resilience, and her memory will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew her.
