Criss Anthony Tyler, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was born on May 16, 1959, in Henderson, Kentucky, to the late John E. Tyler and Polly Miller Tyler. He received his education in the Henderson County school system, graduating from Henderson County High School with pride.
Following high school, Criss honorably served in the United States National Guard, cherishing the values of duty and service. His journey took him to Columbus, MO, where he lived and worked for ten years before returning home to Henderson, where his heart resided.
Throughout his life, Criss was an active member of his church community. As a child, he attended Seventh Street Baptist Church with his devoted mother, a longstanding member. In 2020, he united in Christ at Love Temple Church of God in Christ, where he made a meaningful contribution as a member of the Usher Board. On January 1, 2023, in this very church, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Bertha Ann (Brown) Tyler, surrounded by love and faith, officiated by Pastor Harlan Armstead.
Criss was an enthusiastic sports fan who relished the excitement of games during his leisure time, and he enjoyed playing cornhole, especially at family gatherings. A devoted family man, he treasured the moments spent with his siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he loved deeply. Criss's charismatic and outgoing nature made him the life of the party, bringing joy and laughter to those around him.
On February 24, 2026, at 4:20 p.m., Criss was called to his eternal home at St. Vincent’s Ascension Hospital, surrounded by his loving wife, family, and friends. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, James Dixon. He is survived by his devoted wife, Bertha Ann Tyler; daughters, Myesha Tyler and Erris Martin of Evansville; sons, Christopher Carter (Evansville), Christian Tyler (Columbus, MO), Brice Easley, and David Brown (both of Henderson); granddaughters, Neamiah Martin and Nirvana Tyler; and grandsons, Kyron Tyler, Sekani Easley, De’Angelo Pollard, McKel Brown, Javid Brown, and Masiah Brown.
He is also survived by his brothers: Kim Tyler, Brad Tyler, Berry Tyler, Keith Tyler, and John Tyler; a cousin/brother, Roland Tyler; a cousin/aunt, Mary Francis; and cousin/sisters Barbara Chambers, Karen Tyler, Angie Smith, Na’Nai Burton, and Barbara Ann Rivera. He leaves behind his mother-in-law, Willie Mae Foster; sister-in-law, Patricia Foster; brothers-in-law Allen Foster (Lee), Bruno Foster, and Jerome Foster; cherished friends Al (Debra) Harris and Ernest (Veronica) Boothe of Columbus, MO; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Criss Anthony Tyler's legacy will live on through the love he shared and the memories he created.
