Arliss Wayne Cottner, lovingly known as “Posey,” peacefully passed away on May 17, 2026. Born on September 15, 1954, to Robert and Gertrude Cottoner, Arliss grew up in Hopkins County and was a proud graduate of Madisonville North Hopkins High School.
He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army, contributing through both active duty and the Army Reserves. Arliss held a deep passion for sports, particularly as a devoted fan of The University of Kentucky. He dedicated part of his career to working with Kentucky Carbine.
Arliss was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Gertrude Cottoner, his twin brother Charles D. Cottoner, his sister Gwendolyn Sherman, and his brother James Cottoner.
He is fondly remembered by his beloved wife of 35 years, Mickey (Fairrow) Cottner; his daughter Arlicia Cottner; and two cherished grandchildren, Ariel Ross and Jaden Ross. He also leaves behind his brothers Reverend Robert L. Cottoner and his wife Jonell Cottoner, Roger Cottoner; his sisters Faye Royster and her husband Curtis Royster, Sheryl B. Stafford and her husband Freddie Stafford; his sister-in-law Delma Cottoner; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Arliss’s life will be celebrated by all who knew him, honoring his dedication to family, country, and community.
