Annetta Marie Tyler

Annetta Marie Tyler, 81 was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on July 8, 1942 to Lerlean Elizabeth Tyler and Roy Tyler, Jr. and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.

She was baptized at an early age at Virginia Street Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Before becoming a member at Elevation Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was a former member of The Dwelling Place in Evansville, Indiana, and Emmanuel Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana where she served faithfully.

There were two things Annetta was passionate about -- her relationship with the LORD and her family! She was a true worshiper and would dance for the LORD, and even run on occasion. Her family meant everything to her, and her legacy will live on in her children and grandchildren. A legacy of honoring the LORD and understanding the importance of family and community. She believed in speaking life in every situation,and understood ORDER! Two of her favorite sayings were “Strong Life, Long Life” and if something was off… it was “Out of ORDER!” She was a Daughter, Sister, Mother, Mom, Grandma, Granny, Auntie, Friend, Intelligent, Classy, Compassionate, Loving, Giving, Wise, Fearless, Amazing, Beautiful, and a Woman of Prayer…. Annetta.

Annetta was a lifelong learner. She attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School, Attucks High School and obtained her Associate Degree from Hopkinsville Community College. After obtaining her degree, she relocated to Evansville where she was employed with Mead Johnson for seven years. When she relocated to Indianapolis she was an Office Manager for The Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis. .

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lerlean and Roy Tyler, Jr., and Ollievette Tyler, Paul Manning, Sr., and Florence Tyler, daughter Carmen Gordon, two brothers Paul Manning Jr, Terry Tyler, and sister Kathleen Dees.

She is survived by her oldest son, Bertel E. Adams (Dorothy) of Evansville, Indiana. She was united in marriage to Ewell E Gordon Jr., and to this union four children were born, Lekita Hart (Ken), Ewell E. Gordon III (Teresa) and Scottie Gordon of New Braunfels, TX, and Carmen Gordon who preceded her in death. Twelve Grandchildren: Damien Adams, Kendra DeBruhl, Dana Winston, Kelly Boyd, June Johnston, Nacole Wheatley, Kente’ Hart, Khristian Hart-Choate, Jackie Kay Gordon, Eli Gordon, Eshton Gordon, Kaiden Gordon, fourteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Annetta was the oldest of nineteen siblings. She is survived by nine sisters: Jonita McNeeley, Missy Glover (Malcolm), and Tasha Gant (Kerry) of Indianapolis, IN, Paula Hudson, Sue Hanley (Jerry), Pauletta Rascoe (Norris), and Helen Manning of Hopkinsville, KY, Judy Holmes of Atlanta, GA, and Dorothy Thomas of Columbus, GA., She is survived by six brothers: Daris “Geno” Tyler (Nina) and Donnie Tyler of Owensboro, KY, Herbert Manning (Sharon), Jewel Manning (Vanessa), Roy Tyler III (Janie), and Jerry Tyler of Hopkinsville, KY.
