Alfreda Virginia Slaughter was born September 8, 1941, to Marion Edward Slaughter and Bruce Darling (Arnold) Slaughter in Evansville, Indiana. She transitioned from Earth to Eternity on December 29, 2023, at the age of 82.
Affectionally known as “School Teacher”, she retired after working at various factories in the city. During her work career, Alfreda was employed at Guardian Automotive, Shelf Stable Foods, and St. Mary’s Hospital (St. Vincent). She was a well-known bartender at Club Paradise and the Sycamore Bar for many years. She most recently was a Foster Grandparent at the Community Action Program of Evansville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Margaret King, Anna Meriweather, Marion Thacker, Delores Pace; brothers, William Slaughter, James Slaughter; and granddaughter, Taquiche’ LaChar Walker.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Georgiana Walker, and Kyoko N. Pope; 13 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; best friends, Angie Fields and Betty Sue Nelson.
