Mother Willie Mae Swope, 102 years old, was born in Henderson County, Kentucky.
Willie Mae was the second of five daughters born to Henry L. and Ethel B. Powell
(deceased). She departed this life Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Mother Swope
was the wife of Elder Thomas Spencer Swope, Sr. They were blessed with three
sons: Charles Henry (deceased), Thomas Spencer, Jr., and Doris Edward; and two
daughters, Emily Gulley and Carolyn Warren. She was co-founder of the Holy
Temple COGIC and Mother of Whole Truth COGIC.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Eric; and one great-grandson, Jason.
She leaves precious memories for two sisters: Le Jessie Moore and Flora
(Charles) Jackson; three daughters-in-law: Shelby, Synda and Doris Swope; 18
grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services are Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 11:00am at New Bethel Church
of God in Christ in Gary, Indiana with same day visitation from 9:00 until
service time. Special graveside service will be held Friday, August 21, 2015 at
1:00pm at Thomas Cemetery in Cairo, Kentucky. Mason Brothers Audubon Chapel is
in charge of graveside arrangements.
