Wendell Elizabeth Torain

Wendell Elizabeth Baxter-Torain, 80, of Madisonville, KY, departed this life on November 7, 2018 at Baptist Health Hospital. Born June 30, 1938, she was the eldest of 10 children from the union of Ramona and Kingsley Baxter.

Wendell was a member of Wesley Chapel C.M.E. Church and graduated from Rosenwald High School. She was employed at River Queen and Peabody Camp 11 coal mines and retired after 26 years as a coal miner.

In addition to her parents, Wendell was preceded in death by her son: James A. Torain, Jr.; daughter: Gwendolyn K. Torain; grandson: Clarence Kingsley Johnson.

Wendell leaves to cherish fond memories her three daughters: Rosezina Bard of Flint, MI, Sharon Torain (John) of Louisville, KY, Vanita Torain-Johnson of Franklin, KY,; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
