Walter Eugene Gillum, Jr.

December 26, 1940 — March 1, 2016

Walter Eugene Gillum, Jr, passed on March 1, 2016 at Jewish Hospital in
Louisville, KY. Walter was born in Evansville IN on December 26, 1940 to Grace
Reed Gillum and the late Walter E. Gillum, Sr. Walter was a graduate of
Lincoln High School in 1958. He went on to become a master mechanic. Later he
was accepted to the Evansville Fire Department. After 30 years on the
department he decided to retire and held the position of Instructor.

He leaves to mourn his mother: Grace Johnson; two brothers: Michael Gillum of Salem,
Oregon and Eric Johnson of New York City; two sisters: Karon Johnson of
Evansville IN and Andrea (Terrence) Russell of Indianapolis IN; two daughters:
Tracy Gillum of California and Kristin Moore of Evansville IN; Stepdaughter:
Michelle Smith of Evansville IN, six grandchildren, two step grandchildren and
one step great grandchild. A very special friend: Linda Kenner also Melvin
Richerdt who helped him throughout all of his illness.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 7, 2016, 1:00pm at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Evansville IN. Visitation at the church Monday, March 7, 2016 at 11:00am until service.
