Nadine Collins

August 26, 1934 - May 2, 2022

Nadine C. Collins left this realm, after a lengthy illness, Sunday, May 2, 2022, surrounded by family and loved ones. She was loved by everyone that she encountered because of her kindness, and gentle spirit. Mom was affectionately known to those who knew her and knew of her as “GRANDMA”. She was a strong woman, who never complained about anything, and one who fiercely loved her family. She would attend all family functions and would be the last person to go to sleep because she wanted to make sure everything was put away, and all her babies were ok. She was the original winner of the first Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest and boy did she strut across the basement as only she could. In addition, she worked out every day on the treadmill and stationary bike. Nadine was born on August 26, 1934, to Minnie Barker and Leonard Duncan Senior in Carrier Mills Illinois, where she attended High School, and College. She then married Herbert Collins and relocated to North Chicago, from that union 2 sons were born, Crandall S. Collins and Sean Q. Collins. She was a member of St. Johnson Missionary Baptist Church of Waukegan, under the leadership of Pastor Jimmie O. Johnson. She was employed and retired from the US Government after 39 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents Minnie Duncan and Leonard Duncan, Senior; husband, Herbert Collins; sister, Beulah Buford; brother, Leonard Duncan; sister, Mildred Rouse; sister, Ressie Thomas; sister, Juanita Jones; and sister, Avalon Portee. She is survived by her son, Crandall (Lanelle) Collins, Lake Villa Illinois; son, Sean (Janell) Collins, Beach Park, Illinois; 5 grand-children, Rakkia (Lee) Johnson-Pratt, Kenosha, Wisconsin; Megan Collins, Atlanta Georgia; Brooke (Cameron) Powyer, Gurnee, Illinois; Blake Collins, Zion, Illinois, Drake Collins, Beach Park, Illinois,7, great-grandchildren; Xzavier Johnson, Marquis Bradford, Ashley Johnson, Donald Powyer, McKenzie Pratt, Amaya Collins- Nixon, and Lorenzz Pratt; 4 great-great grand-children, Cannon Powyer, Colin Collins, Zara Collins, and Skyland Burnett; brother, Gaylon Duncan, Carrier Mills, Illinois; sister, Barbara Duncan, Carrier Mills, Illinois, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. We will miss her dearly. There will be no service. Visitation only from 9:00 - 10:30 on May 7 at R. Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at 10:45 at Oak Hill Cemetery
