Jason Duane Woodruff

December 31, 1971 — August 27, 2018

Jason Duane Woodruff a loving son, partner, brother, father, uncle, nephew, cousin, mentor, veteran and union brother, departed this life on August 27, 2018 while doing one of the things he loved most – working with kids.
Jason was born to the union of Esterlene Oneida Posey-Woodruff and James Richard Woodruff on December 31, 1971. Jason, a Henderson native, graduated from Henderson County High School in 1989. After graduating high school, Jason elected to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. During Jason’s military service, he fought in Operation Desert Storm and traveled the world serving his country with his fellow Marines.
After his military service, Jason relocated to Olathe, Kansas. In Olathe, he made his mark as a dedicated employee of AT&T serving his brother union members of Local 6360, Communication Workers of America as Chief Steward. While maintaining his career and union responsibilities, Jason had a plethora of interests including fiddling with his latest tech gadgets, coaching Yalone’s football and basketball teams, mentoring children and youth and making himself handy for projects around his home.
Jason was the proud father of the two heartbeats of his life, Maeghan Kennedy Woodruff and Olympia Christina Pyburn. Jason’s girls were the apple of his eye and the rhythm of his heartbeat. Maeghan, an accomplished student of the University of Louisville and entrepreneur has already published her first book. Olympia is currently attending Rockhurst University and studying Computer Science. These “daddy’s girls” love will continue into eternity and beyond.
Jason professed an early faith in Christ and was baptized at Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Henderson, Kentucky. Jason was proceeded in death by his older brother, Chalon Bryant Woodruff and his beloved niece, Mary Chalonda Woodruff, his great aunt Dorothy Brown-McFarland. Awaiting his heavenly arrival are also his grandparents Cordie and Estella Posey and Frank Long.
Jason leaves to cherish his life his parents Esterlene and James Richard both of Henderson, KY, his beloved sister and best friend, Jamie Evonne Woodruff of Olathe, Kansas, a brother James D Hay of Henderson, KY, a step sister, Tabrisha Ruby of Tampa Florida; daughters, Maeghan and Olympia; one grandmother, Mary Long of Henderson, KY, cherished partner Rekeena Ridley of Olathe Kansas, and dear family members, which includes a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and a treasure of his many friends and coworkers.
Jason emptied himself for everyone around him. Although a life shortened by his time on earth, his memory will live forever and his impact will continue to be realized for many years to come.
As a toddler, he was affectionately known as “Pincha” as he would “pinch” anyone and everyone. Jason is with his Lord and Savior, yet he left us with this scripture, “No weapon formed against [Him] shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:17)

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Olathe, Kansas.
