James A. Weathers

December 7, 1942 - November 9, 2019

James A. Weathers, 76, fondly known as “Weather Bird”, passed away at his home on November 9, 2019. He was born to the late James Henry Weathers and Virtis Virginia Frazier in Henderson, KY on December 7, 1942. After high school, James entered the United States Marine Corps where he served for 6 years before being honorably discharged. He came home and later began working for General Tire & Rubber from which he retired. James was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church and also the Lincoln Clark Douglass Alumni Association. He enjoyed Hunting and playing cards, especially Spades and Bid Whist. He could be found watching the Indianapolis Colts whenever they played on television or barbecuing something on his grill. James loved to cook for his family and loved having them around. His grandchildren had a special place in his heart and could get just about whatever they wanted. James’ family will miss him dearly. He will always be remembered for his funny jokes and making everyone laugh. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by sister: Joyce Weathers; brothers: Fred Weathers and Robert Frazier. James leaves to cherish his memory his children: Robert Townsend, Jennifer Weathers, Antonio Weathers, Nakia Weathers, Deena Weathers; siblings: Glenda Wilbourn, George Frazier, Larry Wilson; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
