James Ferrell Copeland, Sr

James Ferrell Copeland, Sr., age 62, of Providence KY, passed away after midnight the morning of April 10, 2016 at his home in Evansville IN.

James was a member of Marable Temple City of Refuge, Inc. After many years of hard work, he retired from the City of Providence and later worked for Tyson foods for two years.

James was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Retia Ann Copeland; his parents, Horace and Katherine Copeland; brothers: Sam Copeland, Terry Hughes, Larry Carney, and Jerry Copeland; and sisters-in-law, Cynthia Copeland and Deborah Ann Baynham.

James is survived by his loving son, James Copeland, Jr. (Aretha); very, very special person, Beth Courtney; brothers, Robert Copeland and Horace Copeland, Jr.; sisters: Nellie Owens (Ed) of Hopkinsville KY, Shirley Baker (Harvey) of Evansville IN, Mary Copeland and Linda Hughes of Owensboro KY, Kim McNeal of Louisville KY, and Beverly Lee of Madisonville KY; brothers-in-law: Rickey Baynham of Providence KY, Dennis Baynham, Tony Baynham (Penny), Tim Baynham, Antonio Baynham (Courtney), and Thomas Baynham – all of Detroit MI; sisters-in-law: Denise Hopson (David) of Providence KY, Lolita Baynham, and Phyllis Baynham – both of Detroit MI; grandchildren: Retia Copeland, Takeiah Copeland, Jerykah Copeland, Kimani Mason, Deon Johnston, Jayeda Copeland, JaQuan Tatipu, Jakahia Copeland, ZaNiyah Courtney, Erika Tandy, and Javin Tandy; great-grandchild, Erionna Putty; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may visit from 12:00 noon until 2:00pm on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Marable Temple City of Refuge, Inc. in Providence KY where the service will be held at 2:00pm. Final arrangements are entrusted to Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel in Evansville IN. Burial will follow at Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.
