Mrs. Hattie Mae Flemming

May 14, 1932 - May 5, 2022

Hattie Mae Flemming (Ms. Hattie) transitioned from earth to eternity on Thursday, May 5, 2022, peacefully among family at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. Hattie was born May 14th, 1932, to the late Albert Sims and Georgia Thomas Sims in Sharon MS. Hattie was baptized at an early age at Sharon A.M.E Zion Church in Sharon, MS., and was educated in the Madison County Schools. Hattie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Thomas Flemming on September 11, 1947. They were blessed with ten lovely biological children. Five daughters and five sons. Hattie and family moved to Evansville In, in 1952. She became a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church then later Greater St. James Missionary Baptist church. She served on various committees while at Greater St James. Hattie loved to serve. She served on the Usher Board of Greater St James for 60-plus years and as president for 35 years plus. Hattie was employed at Shane Uniform Company and then went on to work at Escalade Sports where she retired. She loved spending time with her family and friends. The highlight of the year for her was traveling to Mississippi to the Sims~ Thomas Family Reunion. She was always known as being a snazzy dresser. But she was best known for being a loving, compassionate, kindhearted beautiful woman of God and the Queen of hearts. Hattie is preceded in death by her husband: Thomas Flemming; sons Oties and Frank; granddaughter Cheriengna Chantell Rhoades; and ten brothers and sisters. She is survived by children: Tommie Flemming-Starks, Mattie Duerson (Jerry), Mary Ann Hale, Kathleen “Katie” Flemming, Carolyn Flemming, Michael Flemming (Cheryl Joy), Kenneth “Number one Fan” Flemming (Stefanie), and Edward (The Reverend Mr. Black) Flemming; brother: John Sims; sisters in law Maggie Mae Sims of Sharon MS and Arnisha Fleming; brother-in-law E.L Fleming (Hazel) of Jackson MS; a daughter-in-law; Sharon Flemming; Thirty-Three grandchildren; Fifty-Nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A mask is required for both services.
