Geroge W. Thompson

September 29, 1943 — June 17, 2022

George W. Thompson, 78, passed June 17, 2022. He was born September 29, 1943, to the late Emma Lee Willis Thompson and Tom T. Thompson. George was a graduate of J.W. Million High School and was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. During his career, he was employed at Peabody Coal Company, the steel mills in Gary, IN, and at Scott-McGaw Motor Company. He was preceded in death by sisters: Mary Alice Pettus, Martha Jean Thompson, and Myrtle Mae Adams; brother: Virgil Lee Thompson; aunts: Melva Willis Hicks, Flossie Willis Mayes.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sister: Sallie Wright (Billy) of Madisonville; 2 brothers: Robert Thompson of Earlington, and Albert Thompson of Hopkinsville, KY; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends: Carol Gilmore, Charles Eaves, Austin Wooldrige, William Jonigan, and Tyrone Hopson. The family would like to thank everyone involved in the care of George W. Thompson especially Melody Rice, his special companion. Many thanks to Ruth Ray, Leslie Ray, Mary & Kenneth Yancey, and Cora Mae Hendrix for the care they provided George.
Services are at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until service. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Earlington. Mason & Sons is entrusted with final arrangements.
