George Hawes

George Hawes, 76, of Henderson County Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday,
March 2, 2016. He was born in Henderson County Kentucky on May 18, 1939 to the
late Virgil and Mildred Hawes. He accepted Christ at an early age at Pleasant
Hill Baptist Church and later resided in Henderson, KY for many years. After
his health failed, he relocated to the Western Kentucky Veteran’s Center in
Hanson, KY. He served in the United States Army for several years and was later
employed at Alcan Aluminum Company where he retired after 26 years.

George was preceded in death by his parents: Virgil and Mildred Hawes and his sister:
Francis Sutton.

He is survived by 9 siblings: Lorene Adcock of Evansville, IN;
Marthella (Sam) Benson and Kathleen Scruggs both of Louisville, KY; Dorothy
Baker of Henderson, KY; Roy Hawes of Cobden, IL; Arthur (Diane) Hawes of
Newburgh, IN; Reena (James) Bizzell of Warrensville Heights, OH; Riina (Billy)
Davis of Henderson, KY and Byron (LaVoda) Hawes of Evansville, IN; and a host of
nephews nieces and cousins. Funeral services will be noon on Tuesday, March 8,
2016 at Greater Norris Chapel Baptist Church in Henderson, KY officiated by Rev.
Charles Johnson. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until service time
