Edna Weekley Harris

Edna Weekley Harris, 96, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Golden Living Brentwood Nursing Home. She was born to Sam Weekley and Hattie Bailey in Lincoln, Illinois. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William “Babe Willie” Harris. Edna was a member of Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She worked as a hostess in restaurants and also in the childcare industry.
Everyone who came in contact with Edna, knew that she was a “sassy little lady”. She was a person that wasn’t afraid of anything. Edna was also determined to do what she needed to do; often walking to the store rather than waiting for a ride. She was very loving and nurturing to her son and his son Ahmed.
She leaves to mourn her loss and cherish fond memories, grandchildren: Ahmed Harris (Shanikka), Carolyn Walters, Beverly Roberts, Teresa Menefield, Aileen Dixon; great-grandchildren: De’Ajala Harris, Sequoia Harris, Ahmera Harris, Ahmarie Harris, Ahviaire Harris; caregiver: James “Starchy” Anderson; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
