Corine Dodd

July 24, 1941 — March 31, 2020

On July 24, 1941, Corine (Dunbar) Dodd, was born in Shaw, Mississippi to the late Millie E. Gill and Chester F. Dunbar, Sr. She went home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2020 at the age of 78. Corine attended Carver School in Gary, Indiana and went on to obtain her GED when she was 50 years young in Evansville, IN.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Gospel Temple in Mississippi . After moving to Evansville, she joined Nazarene Baptist Church. Corine was a foster grandparent for CAPE and an amazing cook who was known for her chicken and dumplings and peach cobbler. Her favorite hobbies were going to Bingo with her daughter Velicia and cousin Charlene and playing cards. She was called Killer Co by her fellow card-playing friends. Corine worked at Miller’s Restaurant in Gary Indiana for many years and Hudson Valley Tree Company in Evansville. She loved everyone she met and didn’t meet a stranger.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Chester F. Dunbar, Jr., Willie B. Maxwell, and Nathaniel Gill; sister-in-law: Ethlene Dunbar.
Corine leaves to cherish her memory her daughters: Venita J. Dodd, Octavia (Taby) Murphy, Velicia (Lisa) Anderson; sons: Timothy Barnes, Reginald Thames; sisters: Ollie M. Gill, Barbara Spears, Minnie Mann, Ruth Dunbar, Mabel Dunbar, Linda Clark (William), all of Evansville; brothers: Douglas Dunbar (Sheila), Jeffery Dunbar (Darlene), Stacy Hart all of Evansville, Charles Dunbar (Shirley) of Knoxville, TN; six grandchildren: Roddell, Dariel, Seavahn, Shaun-nika, Sequoyah, Ariel; nine great-grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends and special friends Peter & Bonnie Fox.
