Bertha Louise Evans

July 29, 1935 — September 19, 2020

Bertha Louise Evans (Johnson), born July 29, 1935, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Evansville, IN. Bertha was born in Evansville, later moved to Chicago, and then to Indianapolis. She was living in Indianapolis when she dropped absolutely everything to move down to Rockwood, TN to help her only daughter, who was pregnant with her first child.
She attained her GED and later received her degree in nursing and became an LPN. During her career, Bertha worked for and was the head of many nursing homes in Rockwood, Harriman, and Kingston, TN.
Bertha raised her only child as a single and hardworking mother. Her children and grandchildren were the most important parts of her life. She enjoyed, knitting, sewing, and shopping. She also enjoyed watching her favorite television shows: Walker Texas Ranger, Touched by an Angel, and absolutely anything with Chuck Norris.
Bertha is preceded in death by her daughter Annetta and her sister Hazel. Bertha is survived by her three grandchildren: Shayla (Levar Brown) Davidson-Brown of Chattanooga, TN, Shayn Davidson of Kingston, TN, and Briana (Megan Lollar) Johnson of Evansville, IN; her great-grandchildren: Amari Brown, Kyi Brown, and Robert Anders; and many very close relatives that meant the world to her.
