Barbara Ann Curlin

Barbara Ann Rice Curlin, age 76, of Madisonville, Kentucky passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 8:30am at Brighton Nursing Home in Madisonville.

Barbara was born in White Plains (Hopkins County), Kentucky on July 24, 1939 to William Rice and Margaret Sharber Hendrix. She attended Rosenwald High School in Madisonville, KY and later moved with her family to Crofton KY. She entered the nursing field and worked as a Certified Nurses’ Aide at Outwood in Dawson Springs KY, Western State Hospital in Hopkinsville, KY, and Indianapolis, IN.

Barbara was a longtime member of Hills Chapel CME Church in Croton, KY. She enjoyed cooking, a skill that her family members appreciated.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memory, three sons: Ricky Rice of Carrie Mills IL, Timothy Rice, and Kenneth Rice – both of Madisonville KY; two daughters: Belinda Rice of Madisonville KY and Stephanie Renee Rice of Smyrna TN; three brothers: William Rice, Jr. , Michael Edward Rice, and Vincent Thompson – all of Louisville KY; five sisters: Emagene White, Priscilla Tunstill, Linda Duncan, Marlene Weathers and Victoria Board – all of Louisville KY; 6 grandchildren: 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; one aunt, Louella Drake of Crofton KY; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, a husband, Lewis Curlin and her brother, Leroy Drake.
