Anthony Baylus Flowers Sr.

November 2, 1946 — July 12, 2020

Anthony (Tony) Flowers, Sr. was born November 2, 1946 in Evansville, In and moved to his new home in Heaven, July 12, 2020. Dad loved the Lord and was saved and baptized at New Hope Baptist Church in his youth. He was an amazing tenor in the choir where he even led a few songs.

Our father and grandfather grew up in a close knit, praying family; one in which he was taught a strong work ethic. He was a graduate of Bosse High School. After working several jobs, his longest tenure was at Whirlpool from where he retired due to his illness. He loved music! You talk about could dance? He and his sister, Gussie, won so many dance contests during their high school years! He was smooth! He loved socializing with anyone who would engage him in a conversation. He never met a stranger. He loved to laugh and smile, but most of all Dad LOVED his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Daddy had many nick names that some of his closest friends and family would call him: Rock Steady, Mike Jones, Buck Tomato, and Mr. B. He would answer to all of them while having the biggest grin and smile on his face.

In April 1965, Dad married the love of his life, our Mom, Jennie Shack. A little bit into the marriage, we came along, three beautiful and adoring children. Dad was so lovable! He had a great memory and never forgot to show us love. We will all miss him and we know that you will too.

Preceding Tony to Glory are his mother, Virginia Flowers Smith; step-father: Garfield Smith; sisters: Myrna Simpson, Augusta Clark, and Barbara Jean Warfield: brother: Warren C. Flowers.

He leaves a powerful legacy in his children: Tamara Flowers Ealum (Danny), Dena Flowers, and Anthony B. Flowers, Jr. (Sonya); brother George Flowers, Sr. (Alma Dean) and eldest sister: LaVerne Hinton. Additionally, he has eight amazing grandchildren who will remember his love: Jasmine Coit, Anthony Flowers, III, Tyrell Flowers, JarDan Ealum, Matthew Flowers, Alvinia Flowers, Mesha Flowers, and Danielle Ealum (all residents of Evansville); Dad was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren, loads of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
